On Anzac Day 2015, while surfing near Port Lincoln, Chris Blowes came face-to-face with a great white shark. The encounter changed his life forever, leaving him an above-knee amputee—but also giving him an extraordinary perspective on survival, resilience, and growth.

Now a disability advocate and inspirational keynote speaker, Chris shares his story of overcoming unimaginable adversity. His presentations take audiences on a raw, honest journey through the highs and lows of life before, during, and after the shark attack. With powerful visuals and authentic storytelling, Chris leaves audiences motivated to face their own challenges head-on.

Through his lived experience, Chris explores how limiting beliefs, fear of failure, and comfort zones often hold us back, and how true growth comes from stepping into discomfort, reframing setbacks, and finding purpose in trauma. His themes include adapting to change, overcoming fear, celebrating failures, building resilience, gratitude, and mental wellbeing.

Chris lives in Adelaide with his wife Chloe and son Eddie, and he continues to inspire audiences of all ages with his belief that “In trauma and struggle there is growth and learning. In failures and setbacks there is growth and learning.”

Chris Blowes is living proof that with the right mindset, anything is possible.
